Marine Well Containment Company Honored with Blue Heron Award from the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association

Houston, TX, January 25, 2012 – Today, Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) was recognized with the Blue Heron Award from the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) during the association’s annual meeting in New Orleans. Created in 1993, the award recognizes exceptional environmental stewardship in association with oil and gas activity. Specifically, MWCC was honored for the company’s efforts in deepwater well containment in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from LMOGA,” said MWCC Chief Executive Officer Marty Massey. “Support from associations like LMOGA aid in our mission to be continuously ready to respond to a deepwater well control incident in the U.S. Gulf.”

MWCC member companies have led the way by putting in place the containment system and organization to be continuously ready to respond to a potential well control incident in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. In addition, MWCC is committed to advancing technology and capability to keep pace with its member needs. MWCC’s containment system is available to all oil and gas operators in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico either as a member or on a per-well basis.
